West Trenton-based NJM Insurance Group has announced that its president and CEO Mitch Livingston will retire on July 31 of this year. Carol Voorhees, currently NJM’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, has been selected by the company’s board of directors to succeed Livingston.
Livingston spent 19 years with NJM, including the past seven as its leader.
“Mitch skillfully led NJM through the most transformational period in the company’s history, expanding its products and geographic footprint to become a full-service, multi-line regional carrier,” said Edward Stern, chairman of NJM’s board of directors. “Throughout the expansion, NJM remained focused on its policyholder service mission. I am extremely grateful for Mitch’s leadership and commitment to serving policyholders — especially during the unprecedented COVID pandemic.”
“It has been a privilege to serve NJM as president and CEO, and I am proud that the board has elected Carol as my successor,” said Livingston. “Carol is a proven leader and an instrumental partner in our strategic expansion. She has led our data analytics transformation and has overseen NJM’s Personal Lines, Marketing, IT, and Project Management departments. Carol is perfectly positioned to advance NJM’s strategic plan while ensuring we stay true to our mission.”
Voorhees joined NJM in 1996 as a systems analyst. In 2018, the board of directors elected her to the position of senior vice president and chief information officer, and she joined the company’s executive leadership team. Voorhees was named to her current role last year. She holds a B.S. in organization leadership from Thomas Edison State University and a master’s in insurance management from Boston University.
Livingston “is an exceptional leader who brings out the best in people, and I’ve enjoyed working alongside him,” Voorhees said. “I appreciate the confidence of the board and look forward to continuing NJM’s culture of service.”
