Just for Seniors, iPad Tutorials

The Princeton Senior Resource Center, which presented a popular fall conference on “Technology and Aging Independently,” is following up on that program in January with three free hands-on workshops on mobile device technology use. Workshop organizers say that “people who received a tablet, iPad, iPhone, or other smart phone for the holiday can bring it to PSRC for tension-free tutorials on how to use their gift as easily and confidently as their children and grandchildren do.”

The first class, Intro to iPad, will be Thursday, January 8, from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants will learn how to write, forward, and delete E-mail; how to browse the Internet; add applications (“apps”); and personalize settings on their iPad or other tablet.

More iPad training will be offered Wednesday, January 14, also from 10 to noon. Participants will learn how to use the tablet’s camera, make albums, save photographs from E-mail; and how to sync your tablet.

Intro to iPhone, on Friday, January 23, at 1 p.m., will cover basic operating features of the Smartphone, including the touch-screen interface; basic settings; security features; phone calls; text messaging; the contact list; calendar and E-mails; and app store.

In addition to the portable device, those who register should also be sure to bring their passwords for both the device and their E-mail to class. All classes will be held at the Suzanne Patterson Building at 45 Stockton Street, Princeton. Register at 609-924-7108.
