Two organizations normally associated with developing the skills of men and women in the business world are offering workshops this summer aimed at high school students.
Eileen Sinett of Comprehensive Communications Service will hold a complimentary public speaking workshop Wednesday, July 17, from 6 to 7 p.m. at 610 Plainsboro Road. It will be repeated Wednesday, July 31, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Kumon Learning Center, 1800 Route 33, Hamilton Square.
The class is intended to help “teens communicate with confidence, be at ease when speaking to groups, learn body language tips that influence listeners, and apply the skills to interviews, oral reports, presentations.”

Dale Carnegie Training, meanwhile, is presenting “a leadership and confidence building course that has been successfully taught to tens of thousands of teenagers throughout the world. Generation.Next’s specially designed curriculum consists of three eight-hour interactive sessions,” says Anita Zinsmeister of the Hamilton-based Dale Carnegie center.
“Not only is this program packed with discussions about real-life situations but also with role-playing scenarios to maximize their learning and interactive experience,” Zinsmeister says.
The course will teach teens how to become more effective under pressure; become more goal-oriented to improve grades, develop a more positive attitude toward challenges; enhance leadership skills; improve communication skills — both speaking and listening; interact more effectively with peers, adults, and family members; and overcome fear of speaking to groups.
