Caren S. Franzini, who had directed the New Jersey Economic Development Authority for nearly two decades until her abrupt departure in 2012, will be back at a networking event co-sponsored by the NJEDA on Thursday, March 6, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Salt Creek Grille in Princeton Forrestal Village.
The event is co-sponsored by the Northeastern Economic Developers Association (NEDA), a trade group for economic development professionals aiming to create effective regional economic development programs and promoting regional cooperation. According to a press release from the NEDA, based in Liverpool, outside of Syracuse, New York, Franzini will speak on “Insights on Economic Development: Excitement Across the Northeast Region.” The event is expected to attract economic development professionals from New Jersey and the Northeast and will also include discussion of several successful case studies.
Franzini, who had been viewed as a highly effective advocate for bringing companies to New Jersey, resigned in 2012 to “move on to a new phase in my career,” as she said at the time. Her duties were split between Michele Brown, who was named chief executive officer after serving as appointments counsel to Governor Chris Christie, and Tim Lizura, formerly senior vice president of finance and development at NJEDA, who filled a new position, president and chief operating officer.
The press release noted that the program is being sponsored by the law firm of Sokol, Behot & Fiorenzo; Brownfield Redevelopment Solutions; GEI Consultants; and Langan Engineering. Also on hand will be the NEDA board of directors.
