Fire Relief Fund

The executive director of Princeton Community Housing, Edward Truscelli, has issued an update on the drive to fund temporary housing for the 34 residents displaced by the December 27 fire at Griggs Farm:

Community members have responded generously to the matching challenge for the Griggs Farm Fire Relief Fund. One week remains in the challenge offered by anonymous donors. Gifts online or postmarked by January 23 will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to a total of $36,000. So far 111 donors have given $28,210, with gifts ranging from $25 to $5,000. Most have been in the $50-$200 range.

The reconstruction of the damaged Griggs Farm building, which had 24 apartments, is now estimated to take at least 10 months. PCH is working with other community organizations to identify local places where the displaced residents can stay for an extended time, to keep children in the Princeton public school district and maintain employment and other community ties. Individuals or organizational representatives with housing options are asked to contact PCH.

To donate mail or bring your check, payable to Princeton Community Housing, to Princeton Community Housing, One Monument Hall (Lower Level), Princeton 08540; or visit www.princetoncommunityhousing.org/support-pch/donate/. In both cases indicate clearly the purpose of your gift: “Griggs Farm Fire Relief Fund.”
