Culture of Health Invites Proposals

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is looking for ways to spend $200,000 in grants over the next four years aimed at expanding its program called “Building a Culture of Health in New Jersey — Communities Moving to Action.”

The foundation is looking for community coalitions interested in applying for grants, and is holding three sessions for potential recipients. The first is Monday, October 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation at 1 College Road East. The second is Tuesday, October 27, from 10 a.m. to noon at Ocean County College in Toms River. The last is the same day from 4 to 6 p.m. at Rutgers Camden at 401 Penn Street.

In July the New Jersey Health Initiatives, a grant-making arm of the RWJF, announced the first 10 recipients of the four-year grants. The foundation said the coalitions will serve as laboratories to see which approaches would work to sustain healthy communities.

“To build upon the success of the first round of NJHI’s Call for Proposals, we are now inviting more community coalitions to apply for this second round of funding,” said NJHI Director Bob Atkins. “Funding under this initiative will support up to 10 additional coalitions across New Jersey. We’re hopeful that some of the communities that missed out on applying last year will take advantage of this new opportunity, and help us to further increase community health efforts across the state.”

The NJHI will host web conferences for potential applicants Wednesday, November 18, Tuesday, December 1, and Wednesday, December 9. For more information, visit www.njhi.org.
