COVID Forces Changes to Tax Aide Program

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program will not be offered at any physical sites in Mercer County this year, the group announced.

As an alternative, AARP is offering the AARP Alternative Tax Preparation program (ATP). The ATP program provides direct taxpayer access to free online tax software for this year’s taxes as well as video and/or phone assistance with a certified AARP tax assister.

Rather than doing the tax return for taxpayers, certified AARP tax assisters help taxpayers prepare their own online returns.

More information about the Alternative Tax Preparation program will be available to taxpayers beginning Friday, January 22 at www.aarpfoundation.org/taxaide.
