Magyar Bank and Good Time Oldies 1450 WCTC are co-sponsoring a toy drive to benefit Children’s Specialized Hospital, the largest pediatric rehabilitation system in the country. Bring your unwrapped, unused gift Magyar Bank, 3050 Route 27 in Kendall Park, or to WCTC offices in Somerset before December 19.

The MagyarBank Charitable Foundation also recently awarded $1,000 to the South Brunswick Family YMCA. These funds will be used to purchase refurbished computers and software for the Pre-Kinder Prep and Kinder Prep classrooms at the Child Development Center.

JFK Communications, a healthcare public relations agency based on Independence Way, raised more than $10,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Sara Kouten, JFK’s vice president of finance, was this year’s team captain and herself a breast cancer survivor. “When I was diagnosed in May it was a shock,” she says. “But leading this team and helping others with breast cancer enabled me to stay positive and grateful through my battle.”

The 40-member team friends exceeded its initial goal of $3,000 when it received a $5,000 donation from the Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation, a New Brunswick-based philanthropy that supports healthcare, the arts, and children’s welfare.

A winter coat drive coordinated by NAIOP New Jersey has resulted in the collection of nearly 200 new and gently worn coats and jackets for adults and children. The collected items have been donated to the Salvation Army of New Brunswick.
