Bob Prunetti is no longer CEO of the MidJersey Chamber of Commerce. According to press reports, Prunetti was booted due to a difference of opinion with the business organization’s board of directors over the future of the group and the role of the CEO.
“We had a difference we couldn’t reconcile, and basically that was on the direction the chamber was going to take,” Prunetti told the Trentonian. His temporary replacement is Jeannine Cimino, current vice chair of the chamber.
Prunetti, a Republican, was Mercer County Executive between 1992 and 2004, and oversaw the building of Trenton Thunder ballpark and the Sun National Bank Center (formerly the Sovereign Bank Arena). Since deciding not to run for a fourth term as executive, Prunetti stayed active in the community, founding a management consulting firm, Phoenix Ventures, and owning Nick’s Cafe 72, a restaurant in West Trenton. He became head of the MIDJersey Chamber in 2010 when it was called the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Prunetti told reporters he planned to refocus on Phoenix Ventures and partner with former Trenton mayor Douglas Palmer.
