Baby Product Manufacturer Seeks Princetonian Aid

Church & Dwight has announced a joint venture with a California-based designer and manufacturer of infant and toddler products to help make the proverbial baby’s bottom, smooth as it might be, also pleasingly fragrant. Munchkin Inc. (www.munchkin.com), finding that its customers are increasingly sensitive to the inevitable odors that go along with raising babies, is teaming up with the Princeton company, best known for its Arm & Hammer baking soda products, to create a line of deodorizing products that help parents “keep things fresh” in the nursery and on-the-go.

Munchkin has research that shows 58 percent of moms reporting that they purchase some form of odor control, and, more significantly, that another 61 percent of moms report that they still wish they had additional products to help with smell.

The new deodorizing line will blend Munchkin’s expertise in the infant care category with “the proven odor-eliminating power of Arm & Hammer baking soda to provide parents with a safe, natural and effective solution for their diaper changing needs.”

Explaining a prime source of offensive odors, Munchkin reports that the average baby goes through more than 2,000 diapers a year. Professing itself helpless to end the chore of changing all of those diapers, Munchkin, nevertheless, says that its partnership with Church & Dwight will “make this task a little more bearable so parents can focus on what they truly love about parenting.”

The two companies are jointly producing diaper dispenser and disposal bags infused with baking soda and lightly scented with lavender, disposable changing pads, totes described as “fresh, stylish pouches filled with odor-eliminating baking soda and a lavender scent freshen and deodorize diaper bags, closets, cars, and more.”

The new products will be available at major retailers beginning this month.
