The State Council On the Arts is hosting a series of free workshops around New Jersey regarding its 2013 Organizational Grant program, including two stops in the Princeton area.
The first workshop will be held on Tuesday, December 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the State Theater in New Brunswick; the second on Wednesday, December 7, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the State Council On the Arts in Trenton. E-mail Irene.Wells@sos.state.nj.us or call 609-984-7127.
The workshops are intended to help potential applicants navigate the technical process of the council’s grants programs for state arts organizations in general operating support to nonprofit, arts-missioned organizations, general program support to nonprofit organizations, colleges, and government bodies looking to help support ongoing public arts programs, arts education special initiatives to school-based projects of arts nonprofits that contribute to arts education, and arts project support to nonprofit organizations, colleges, and government to help support a single arts event.
In order to be eligible for any of these grants, an applicant must be a private nonprofit organization incorporated in New Jersey, a unit of government, or college; be tax-exempt; be registered with the New Jersey Charities Registration Bureau; be in existence and providing public arts programs or services for at least two years; and demonstrate that its activities serve a multi-county region of the state.
A “Notice of Intent to Apply” must be submitted through the Arts Council’s electronic application system by Wednesday, December 14. Applications are due in February.
