The research that goes on in Princeton University’s labs and libraries may seem opaque and esoteric, but for at least one day it will be accessible to a broad audience. The university hosts the Princeton Research Symposium on Sunday, October 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Friend Center at the corner of Olden and William streets. The event is free and open to the public, and no registration is necessary.
The event’s featured speakers show the breadth of the research happening on campus. At 9 a.m. Wendy Belcher, a professor of comparative literature, will give an opening talk introducing her current research on the spread of African thought in Europe prior to the 19th century. Freeman Dyson, a professor emeritus of particle physics at the Institute for Advanced Study, will deliver the keynote address at 4 p.m.
In between, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows will give presentations on their research in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering.
