The annual Palmer Square Fashion Show kicked it up a notch this year in the Nassau Inn ballroom with hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, and a Bellini cocktail and goodie bag (with actual goodies in it, including Thomas Sweet chocolate) for every guest. The new $25 ticket fee goes to benefit Dress for Success Mercer County (www.dressforsuccess.org/mercercounty), whose mission it is to advance low-income women’s economic and social development and encourage self-sufficiency through career development. The Sunday, October 19 event sold out all 160 seats.
The clothes and the models were also kicked up a notch, with gorgeous, leggy models strutting the catwalk in fashions by Palmer Square stores. Pawtisserie, the gourmet pet store on the Square, again provided some canine models.
There were door prizes galore — winners included Mindy Kantor of Princeton, marketing manager at Siemens, who walked away with a beautiful orchid from Spruce. In fact, the audience was packed with working women from all up and down the Route 1 corridor, including Maria Imbalzano, an attorney at Stark & Stark in Lawrenceville and a board member of Dress for Success; Amanda Carey of Princeton, marketing manager at Firmenich in Plainsboro; and Sue Dunning of Princeton, executive director, BigBrothers/Big Sisters of Mercer County.
Palmer Square newcomer, designer Stephen Seo, definitely drew oohs and ahs with his elegant, sophisticated original designs for men and women. Princeton finally has a fashion event that makes the cut.
