The Sourland region’s Americorps Watershed Ambassadors will lead free STREAM volunteer training sessions in their area to teach participants to identify sensitive macroinvertibrates and assess riparian habitat. No experience is necessary. Each volunteer will complete one, two-part training session (one indoor lesson and one outdoor lesson), then accompany the Watershed Ambassador to complete a survey in a Sourland region stream. Registration is required.

Three spring sessions will be offered: Wednesday, April 24, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Flemington Free Public Library and Sunday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to noon at Mine Brook Park 116 Capner Street, Flemington. Visit www.tiny.cc/STREAMApril24and28.

The second takes place Friday, May 2, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Watershed Institute and Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to noon at Rosedale Park in Hopewell Township. Visit www.tiny.cc/STREAMMay2and4

The Tulpehaking Nature Center, 157 Westcott Avenue, Hamilton, is collecting tough-to-recycle items that would normally end up in the landfill. Visitors are welcome during open hours on Fridays and Saturdays in April from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to drop off their chip bags, candy wrappers and #6 plastics.

Hopewell Presbyterian Church at the intersection of Broad and Louellen streets in Hopewell Borough seeks donations for its annual rummage sale, set for May 2 through 4. Drop off donations at the church beginning at Sunday, April 28, at 3 p.m. through Wednesday, May 1, at noon. For questions call 609-577-8819.

Items sold will include gently used housewares, china, furniture, linens, jewelry, clothes, small appliances, books, toys, and more. Items not accepted include shoes, plastic cups or bottles with advertising, magazines, textbooks, upholstered furniture, encyclopedias, computers, typewriters, mattresses, or large appliances. South Brunswick Public Library seeks donations of books and media for upcoming book sales. Items should be in good condition, new or nearly new. No magazines, encyclopedias, VHS, or audio cassette tapes. Bring donations to the side of the Borrower Services Desk.
