Join Friends of Princeton Nursery Lands and Kingston Greenways Association for an afternoon of stewardship Saturday, September 29, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Mapleton Preserve, 145 Mapleton Road, Kingston. Help remove brush, vines, and invasive saplings and shrubs, care for trees in the Flemer Arboretum, or collect litter with the trash crew. Participants can bring their tools to the event. Call for Art

The New Brunswick Public Library will host its first visual art contest. Participants can submit photos, drawings, and paintings that adhere to one of the following themes: civil rights, culture, homelessness/food scarcity, environmental justice, immigration/workers’ rights, and youth development. Submission deadline is Wednesday, October 10.

Submission forms and full details are available at the New Brunswick Free Public Library, 60 Livingston Avenue; George Street Camera, 344 George Street; Alfa Art Gallery, 108 Church Street; Above Art Studios, 55 Morris Street; and Zimmerli Art Museum, 71 Hamilton Street. Audition

McCarter Theater Center is looking for a new group of young actors ages 5 to 13 to form this year’s “A Christmas Carol” Young Ensemble. Register for an audition online at www.mccarter.org/education-community/community/young-ensemble. Auditions for “A Christmas Carol” Young Ensemble will be held at McCarter, 91 University Place, Princeton, on Sunday, September 23. Callbacks will be held Tuesday, October 2.

Voices Chorale is arranging auditions for potential new members. Tenors, baritones, and basses are especially sought. Interested singers of all voice parts should contact jenniferbrader@yahoo.com. Auditions are Monday, September 17, at 6 p.m. The first rehearsal of the season takes place September 17 at 7:30 p.m. Rehearsals are Monday evenings at Music Together Worldwide, 225 Pennington-Hopewell Road, Hopewell.
