Calls for Volunteers

Literacy New Jersey is offering a tutor training workshop for its Mercer County programs. Volunteer tutors are sought to help adults improve their English literacy skills. Work one-to-one or in small groups to teach adults who are learning to speak, read, and write English.

The Tutor Training Workshop will take place online on Zoom, Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon or 6 to 8:15 p.m. on these dates: September 13, 20, 27 and October 6 and 11. Participants are expected to attend all training sessions and complete some independent online assignments. Previous teaching experience is not necessary. The training will provide you with all the essential skills and support to become an effective tutor. After the training, you’ll be ready to start meeting with your students online or in-person once a week.
