Call for Photos
Princeton Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau seeks color photographs from professional or amateur photographers of all ages. Entries must be submitted in digital format (jpg, tiff, png, etc. at 300 dpi minimum). Must be a vertical shot to fit the brochure dimensions. Minor digital enhancements for cropping, red-eye removal, filters, and corrective functions are permitted, but images that have been judged to be altered in any significant manner will be disqualified. No borders, frames, backgrounds, watermarks, dates, signatures, or copyright images. No more than five entries per person. Send photos to amanda@princetonchamber.org with contestant name, address, daytime telephone number, E-mail address, and where the photo was taken.
Photo elements may include landmarks of historical and significant areas of interest in Mercer County, outdoor activities and vistas with scenic backgrounds. Princeton Photography Club seeks photo submissions from different generations within a family for “Generations,” a juried exhibition opening in March. Are you a photographer following in a family member’s footsteps? Lakefront Gallery at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton, in collaboration with the Princeton Photography Club, seeks submissions for a juried exhibition of photographs created by the generations within a family. Grandfather and granddaughter, mother and son, grandmother and grandson, or similar pairs of photographers, are invited to participate in “Generations,” the upcoming exhibition.
“There are families where creativity runs deep — be it music, literature or visual arts,” says Ilya Genin, a Hamilton cardiologist and curator of Lakefront Gallery. “We are looking for those families where photography has been the focus. The view of the world around us as seen by the members of the same family belonging to different generations will be the subject of our exposition.”
Send photographic images as small jpegs to sgeisler@rci.rutgers.edu by Tuesday, December 10. Include the relationship of the two photographers and the estimated size of your framed prints. Artists will be notified of final selections by February 3. Lakefront Gallery will exhibit the photographs from March 7 to June 13. Friends of the Princeton Nursery Lands has a call for artists for “Legendary Locations,” a juried show open for all media opening Friday, October 11. Works inspired by the Mapleton Preserve in Kingston are especially welcomed, as they celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Princeton Nurseries. Deadline is Friday, September 13. Phillips’ Mill seeks artwork from artists living within a 25 mile radius for the 84th annual juried art exhibition. Eligible work must be by a living artist and completed within the last five years.
Registration and receiving of art work will take place at the mill on Friday, September 6, 2 to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, September 7, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Submitted works will be juried on Sunday, September 8. Villagers Theater has auditions for “Agnes of God” Thursday, August 22, 7 to 10 p.m.; and Saturday, August 24, 1 to 4 p.m. The drama about a novice nun who gives birth and insists that the dead child was the result of a virgin conception requires demanding roles by all three female actors. On stage most of the time, they must be able to project their voices as microphones will not be used. The characters include Dr. Martha Livingstone, Mother Superior, and Agnes.
Audition requires monologues provided for the role — fully memorized. Be prepared to do a cold reading from the script. Agnes must be able to sing the first verse of “Amazing Grace” a capella.
