Call for Poetry
US1 Worksheets — an annual poetry anthology unrelated to U.S. 1 Newspaper — is accepting submissions for its 2024 publication.
Submit up to three poems to Route1poets@gmail.com by Thursday, February 29. Poems received past that date will go unread.
Submissions of poems must adhere to the following guidelines in order to be considered for publication.
1. In the subject line of your submission, write SUBMISSION–LAST NAME.
2. In your email include your snail mail address, your email address and your phone number
3. Attach each poem in a separate file. This file’s name should consist of your last name followed by the first four words of the title of your poem, e.g. Frost Stopping by Woods.
4. Use Times New Roman in 12-point font.
5. Type your poem’s title in bold, skip one space, then start your poem. Do not use all caps.
6. Do not place your name on your poem. All poems are judged devoid of personal knowledge of the poet.
7 . Each poem must fit on a single side of a 6”x 9” page. This means no more than 35 total lines (including your poem’s title and blank space between lines and stanzas).
8. Please left justify each poem unless your poem’s layout absolutely requires otherwise. Preference is for left justified layout.
9. Use Word doc, docx files only. If you use Apple Pages, please Export into a word Doc before you send it. No other file types will be read.
Poems that do not comply with these guidelines will not be considered.
Previously published poems are not accepted. Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but please inform US1 Worksheets immediately if your poem is accepted elsewhere.
Acceptances will be sent out in June, and an anthology launch party will be held at Princeton Public Library on November 3.
For any questions or concerns, including questions about formatting, contact Route1poets@gmail.com with “WORKSHEETS QUESTION” in the subject line.
