Calls for Art
The West Windsor Arts Council invites artists to participate in GR8 Works, a fundraising art show to fund programs including exhibitions and the artist in residence program.
Participate in “GR8 Works” by creating an original 8×8 inch artwork to raise funds to support a diverse and accessible art program focusing on community. The GR8 works can be made by artists of all ages. The submission window to drop off your 8 x 8 inch artwork and to fill out an entry form is from Monday, February 26 through Friday March 1.
More information for artists is available at westwindsorarts.org/exhibition/call-to-artists-gr8-works-2024/
The “GR8 Works” reception will be held on Friday March 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. at West Windsor Arts.
WWAC is also announcing its 2024 Member Show, “Leave Your Mark.”
A statement elaborating on the exhibits theme explains: “As artists, we all have the desire to leave our mark on the world by sharing our artwork. With that said, all artwork is built up through many different techniques of mark-making and each artist has their own version of it. It could be the brush strokes we see in a landscape painting, the pencil marks of an initial sketch, the fingerprints in the clay of a sculpture or the repetitive pattern of weaving fiber. It’s inspiring to see the artist hand in their artwork. Juror and Artist in Residence, Fiona Clark, would love to see a collection of ‘marks,’ in a wide range of interpretations from expressive to subtle.
The entry deadline is Tuesday, February 27, and the show runs from April 9 to June 1 with an opening reception on Friday, April 12, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

For Teens
High school students are invited to participate as global stakeholders in the “En-ROADS Youth Climate Action Summit,” a role-playing workshop on Saturday, March 2, at Princeton Public Library. The event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Community Room. Registration through the events calendar at princetonlibrary.org is required.
Using En-ROADS, six teams will work to determine an action and policy path to address climate change. En-ROADS is a global climate simulator that allows users to explore the impact that dozens of policies have on factors including energy prices, temperature, air quality and sea level rise.
Sessions will be led by chemistry, biology and environmental science teachers at Princeton International School of Mathematics and Science. Parents are encouraged to view the students’ final presentations which will begin at 3:15 p.m.
This event is co-hosted with Environmental Education Fund, which will provide certificates of attendance, and presented with support from the Princeton Environmental Film Festival.
