Borden is a retired elementary school teacher who likes to paint houses, not the houses just the pictures of them. This poem was written for the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the Crosswicks Society of Friends Meeting House. The designated speakers took so long that there was not time for unscheduled offerings from the audience, so no one has ever heard this poem. The subject matter of the poem is true, children of the town on summer evening would play in the spacious Meeting house grounds.
