As U.S. 1 went to press last week with its guide to the summer cultural scene, several regional organizations announced some late-breaking additions to the calendar.

The West Windsor Arts Council is presenting a summer series of three uniquely different concerts at Nassau Park Pavilion (behind Panera Bread) in West Windsor. Modern cellist Dan Kassel opens for each performance.

The concerts are:

Jazz — Darla Rich Quartet, on Saturday, June 17 (rain date June 18), 4 to 7 p.m.

Alternative soul — Jakeya Limitless, on Saturday, July 22 (rain date July 23), 4 to 7 p.m.

Rock pop — The Judy Kang Experience, on Saturday, August 19 (rain date August 20, 4 to 7 p.m.

The Monroe Township Cultural Arts Commission presents its Music in the Park Summer 2023 concerts on six consecutive Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. at the Open Grove Gazebo on the Lake in Thompson Park, Monroe Township. The concerts are free. Bring your own chair and blanket.

The schedule is as follows:

July 6 — Kindred Spirit with classic rock & roll from the 1960s through today.

July 13 — Enjoy! presents songs from the 1950s to today

July 20 — Jersey Rockers presents classic rock from the 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s.

July 27 — The John Bianculli Group, featuring Deb Lyons, offers jazz, samba, and swing.

And one venue had a different sort of announcement: a lack of a summer schedule. In an email to supporters, Hopewell Theater noted that it would be closed for the summer:

“Thank you to everyone who attended the film screenings and partnership events at HT this past spring and winter and to those who hosted private events at the theater.

“We greatly value your patronage. With your support, our reopening since fall 2021 has been a great success!

“Hopewell Theater will be temporarily closing for the summer as we reinvent and plan for the future.

“For news and updates about further plans and eventual reopening, keep an eye on our website and stay tuned to email and social media.”
