Will You Hold My Hand?

(To Mom & Dad)

As my family sits by

my bedside weeping,

will you come and be

with me.

As you once held

my hand when we

crossed the street.

As you once put me

on your shoulders and

carried me because

I was tired.

As you once loved me

even though I spoke

harsh words.

As you once gave me

all that I needed to be

the person I became.

Will you take my hand

and guide me one last time,

into the unknown,

just as you did

the very first time.
