Cryptocurrency: Beyond the Hype

Share post:

In early 2015 one Bitcoin cost around $200. Today they are around $11,000, though that could change dramatically by the time you read this article. The wild swings in the price of Bitcoin and other cyptocurrencies have attracted a great deal of attention and prompted arguments about whether crypto is the future of money or digital beanie babies doomed to fade into obscurity after a flash in the pan.

To answer some of these questions, the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce Foundation is hosting its second Einstein Breakfast, “Bitcoin, Blockchain, and Tokens – Oh My!” on Tuesday, March 13, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Nassau Inn in Princeton. This year’s speaker, Arvind Narayanan, will discuss cryptocurrencies past, present, and future. Tickets are $40. For more information visit princetonchamber.org or call 609-924-1776.

Narayanan, an assistant professor of computer science at Princeton, leads the Princeton Web Transparency and Accountability Project to uncover how companies collect and use our personal information. Narayanan also leads a research team investigating the security, anonymity, and stability of cryptocurrencies as well as novel applications of blockchains.
