For sufferers of psoriasis, past treatments were akin to a Victorian nightmare. They were subjected to applications of coal tar and ultraviolet light for hours a day, for weeks at a time. But thanks to forward-thinking physicians like those at Windsor Dermatology on the forefront of clinical trials, treatment options and outcomes have improved dramatically, giving patients control of their lives again and relief from a stigmatizing condition.

“Since 1990 Windsor Dermatology has been committed to participating in clinical trials to advance medical dermatology research and treatment benefits for our patients,” says founding physician Jerry Bagel, MD. Dr. Bagel is a nationally recognized expert in the treatment of psoriasis and is regularly invited to speak nationally and internationally about this condition and its treatment.

Growing up in Hightstown, Dr. Bagel returned to his roots to establish his practice after completing his residency at Colombia. A master’s in biochemistry led him to pursue research while in medical school, creating a lifelong desire to participate in cutting-edge trials leading to breakthrough developments in psoriasis treatment.

“My interest in the disease led me to have a large number of patients with the condition and my practice became tailor-made for pharmaceutical research. Knowing I’m giving patients, even those who might not have insurance, access to the next breakthrough treatment is very rewarding.” Windsor Dermatology participated in trials with currently FDA-approved drugs such as Enbrel, Humira, Stelara, Otezla, Talz, and Cosentyx. Through the Psoriasis Treatment Center of Central New Jersey, the state’s first complete facility for advanced psoriasis research and therapies, Windsor Dermatology distinguishes its practice as a leader in medical dermatology.

“Diseases of the skin such as psoriasis and eczema go beyond physical and psychological pain. Employee hours are lost to businesses when flare ups occur. Being able to give patients back a positive body image and allow them to pursue their professions and lives with confidence is why we are here.”

This complete commitment to a patient-focused practice is the hallmark of Windsor Dermatology. “Every physician in our practice is a leader in the field. Our staff includes one of only 300 pediatric dermatologists in the country, Jessica Simone, MD, who is not only board certified but fellowship trained,” Dr. Bagel states proudly.

“While everyone of our doctors is tops in their field, each one leaves ego at the door when he or she walks in to meet the patient. We are a team and often consult with each other on cases.”

Windsor Dermatology also has a premier practice for cosmetic and aesthetic treatments. Here too the emphasis is on the newest, non-invasive techniques that provide patients with the best results possible.

“Everyone in our practice is motivated by the same mission: to couple superlative medical care with a completely patient-focused approach. The commitment is total, making Windsor Dermatology a great place to move forward in a medical career.” Dr. Bagel smiles. “My first employee is still with me, and that says it all.”

Dr. Bagel offers a free seminar on psoriasis on Monday, April 24, at 7 p.m. RSVP to 609-443-0424 or jdelvalle@windsordermatology.com.
