Call for Art

Artwork is now being accepted for Mercer County Photography 2017, a juried competition that will take place October 26 through December at the Silva Gallery of Art at the Pennington School. The exhibit is open to all artists, 18 years or older, currently living, attending school, or employed in Mercer County.

Images must have been created within the past three years utilizing photographic processes including black and white photography, color photography, non-silver processes, book art, and computer processed photography. Two-dimensional work must be framed and properly wired for hanging. Entries must be hand-delivered to the Silva Gallery of Art on Saturday, October 21, between 9:30 a.m. and noon. Audition

The Philomusica Concert Choir is holding auditions on Mondays, September 11, 18, and 25, and October 2 from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at 176 Tices Lane, East Brunswick. Prospective singers are encouraged to participate in a regular rehearsal and then audition after the rehearsal. Somerset Valley Playhouse is holding auditions for its December production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” on Sunday, September 10, and Tuesday, September 12, at 7 p.m. at the theater, 689 Amwell Road, Hillsborough. Director Emily Windus is seeking to fill the following roles: six adult males ages 35 and up; six adult female ages 35 and up; seven boys ages 7 and up; and nine girls ages 7 and up. Volunteer

Literacy New Jersey, Mercer County Programs, is seeking volunteers to meet with adults who need to improve their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Volunteers must attend a 15-hour training course at the Hamilton Library, which starts on Wednesday, September 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and continues each week through October 4. GrandPals, a program that matches older adult volunteers with children in Princeton schools, is seeking volunteers for the new school year. Most volunteers read once a week with kindergarten to second grade children during the school day.
