Other Immersion Programs

YingHua is not the only immersion program in town. Princeton Public Schools have launched a dual language immersion program at Community Park Elementary School for kindergarteners and first graders. The half Spanish, half-English classes began for the 2015-’16 school year, but already have a full wait list for 2016-’17.

The Community Park classes will continue to add grades to the immersion program through fifth grade, so that the current students can continue their bilingual education. The program is thought to increase language fluency while still teaching the standard subjects.

A second option is the French American School of Princeton, which teaches preschool through eighth grade. The school, which was established in 2000, is located at St. Joseph’s Seminary at 75 Mapleton Road. Head of school Corrine Gugnor founded the school with five children, and it now enrolls almost 200 students.

Farther afield, in Edison, the Jump Immersion School offers a Spanish and Mandarin immersion program for preschool through second grade, with after-school programs and summer camps through fifth grade.
