The Good Grief Organization

My father died when I was 10, and it was very lonely, awkward, and painful. I am writing this letter in the hope that your readers will gain awareness and consider supporting this organization that I have joined. Good Grief provides unlimited, free support to children, teens, young adults, and families after the death of a mother, father, sister, brother, or child through peer support programs, education, and advocacy.

Through Good Grief I learned that one out of seven children will experience the death of a parent or sibling before the age of 15. I listened to the statistics and histories of the individuals who have been helped by Good Grief since 2004, and it truly moved me as I heard my story being told. When my father died, there really wasn’t anyone to share my feelings with. I look back and wonder how it would have been if there had been an organization like this to turn to.

Good Grief has outgrown its location in Princeton due to growing demand. The organization is hosting a reception and fundraising event on Thursday, March 26, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Church, 33 Mercer Street in Princeton. If this letter has touched a chord in you, please contact Malena Attar at 609-498-6674, ext 8008, or E-mail her at malena@good-grief.org. You can also visit the organization’s website at www.good-grief.org. Please join us on March 26 and find out what we are all about.
