The Blue Sky Was Leaping

The blue sky was leaping

over the clouds

like a teenager on crutches,

swinging the sticks ahead

and then catching his britches

which were sliding off

his narrow hips

so that his lavender shorts

with the puffy cotton frogs

began to show.
