Afraid of your hard drive crashing and erasing your life? Rob Golding, a chemist at Firmenich and past president of the Princeton Macintosh Users Group (PMUG), will demonstrate the worthiness of Retrospect backup software as an alternative to Apple’s Time Machine at PMUG’s members’ night demonstration on Tuesday, September 9, at 7:30 p.m., at Princeton Theological Seminary, Stuart Hall, Room 6, on Alexander Street. The free event begins with a Q&A session in Stuart 4 at 6:30 p.m. before the general meeting. Visit https://pmug-nj.org for map and directions.

Whether you feel intimidated by your Macintosh or feel you are not tapping into your machine’s full potential, PMUG wants to help. Chris Boraski, another speaker, will discuss the hunt for productivity utilities and extensions. Boraski, who works for a start-up and co-founded an iOS App developer, will demonstrate Alfred, Moom, Bartender, Fantastical, Soundsource, iStat Menus, f.lux, SnappyApp, and more.

Laura O’Neill, who helps users at Princeton Public Library’s “Ask the Mac Pros” sessions, will illuminate the many adjustments that can be made to Mac preferences. The goal is to learn about the many customizable settings and have your Mac work better for you, not the other way around.
