The MAX of Princeton: Transform Yourself for Happier, Healthier Life

The MAX of Princeton is a 10-week fitness challenge designed to provide its members with fast and lasting changes to their fitness level, overall health, and appearance. This is done by combining nutrition counseling, fitness classes, and motivation. The greatest transformation achieved by The MAX members is not the transformation from the neck down but rather the transformation from the neck up. The MAX body transformation system helps its members live healthier, happier lives.

The MAX Challenge was founded by martial arts instructor Bryan Klein. Following a difficult pregnancy, while his wife and newborn son were in the hospital for more than a year, Klein saw a decline in his overall health and fitness, including a 100-pound weight gain, and the inability to take it off.

Klein teamed up with a personal trainer and nutritionist. “I started to lose weight, but I was spending $300 a week, which is just obscene, so I thought somebody should combine (fitness and nutrition) into a class. If I could pay $100 a month and go to this class every day that would be ideal.”

One day while Klein looked at an empty room in his karate studio in Manalapan, the spark for The MAX Challenge was born. In the fall of 2011 Klein opened his first location. Two-and-a-half years later, on January 13, 2014, Max Fitness opened its 17th location at 830 Route 206 in Princeton near the intersection of Cherry Valley Road.

The MAX of Princeton differs from traditional gyms in that its goal is to create a support network to help you achieve your fitness and life goals. You attend a class each day, Monday through Friday, at 5, 6, 7, or 9:30 a.m., or 9:15 p.m., and build a support network with others attending the same class.

The program is designed for people of all ages and fitness levels. There is something for everyone with two days of interval training for cardio, two days of strength training (one upper body day and one lower body day), and one day of strength training. The program uses simple equipment like medicine balls and dumbbells.

The other component to The MAX is learning about healthy eating. “It sounds cliche, but we don’t like to call it a diet. It’s a lifestyle change,” Klein said. “It’s only a 10-week program, but people see how much their bodies have changed and see the effects of healthy eating, and then they come back for the next session. We have people who have been with us since the start in 2011 and they still come every day.”
