Make a commitment to yourself — and to your health — with a commitment to fitness. But if you are still having trouble committing to a regular exercise regimen, or if you’re current routine seems, well, too routine, perhaps you haven’t found how to turn exercise into a more satisfying and rewarding experience.

The American Heart Association estimates that 80 percent of Americans don’t make exercise a regular habit, and, according to a recent AHA survey, 14 percent say they don’t like exercise at all.

“Not everyone enjoys working out,” says Stuart Polevoy, owner of the CAN DO Fitness Clubs in Princeton, Short Hills and Edgewater. “Many people would rather be doing something else, and we understand that. That’s why we place so much emphasis on delivering an exceptionally positive fitness experience. We accomplish this by focusing on our four points of strength. Our beautifully appointed boutique-like settings; a wide variety of top of the line equipment and most sought after programs; a team consisting of the area’s top professionals who facilitate and encourage members to achieve their fitness goals; and a single minded focus on catering to the wants and needs of our members is a winning formula that has proven successful at keeping members motivated while helping them achieve the results they are looking for.”

That CAN DO pledge to excellence extends to every facet of the fitness club. In addition to spacious strength and cardio areas, our Princeton Forrestal Village club, has two large Group Fitness and Yoga studios offering a large variety of the most sought after classes, Classical Pilates, Spinning, Boxing, and Martial Arts Studios, an Aquatics Center, Cross Fitness & Functional Training areas, Parisi Speed and Agility School, and on-premise Sports Medicine (physical therapy) and Nutrition practices.

All new members receive a free, fully integrated Polar assessment to gauge blood pressure, weight, flexibility, and strength; this is repeated after 90 days to assess progress. Members are invited to take advantage of free monthly one-on-one consults with a personal trainer. CAN DO instructors and trainers are all nationally certified and undergo a tough audition process. Amenities include free childcare, spa-like locker rooms, Healthy Choice Cafe, Member Lounge, and Active Wear Shop, plus Koi SpaSalon, a world class spa and salon.

CAN DO has a Youth Fitness Training Program for pre-adolescents and teens, incorporating guidelines provided by the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Trainers. The club’s trainers design safe, age-appropriate exercise programs, supervise kids’ exercise activities to ensure they are performed safely and properly, and encourage youngsters to incorporate physical activity into their daily routines.

“Each of our clubs is part of the community, routinely raising money for Special Olympics of New Jersey, the March of Dimes, and the Valerie Fund. We care about every single member,” says Polevoy. “This is not a big-box gym. We want members to get what they want out of fitness. Our goal is for you to reach your goals — that’s our passion.”

For an Exceptionally Positive Fitness Experience, it’s Positively CAN DO.
