David Gray, founder of Finance Arts LLC, has launched “Nonprofit NJ,” a television program focusing on issues that affect New Jersey’s nonprofit sector. The show airs Thursdays at 7 p.m.; Fridays at 10:30 a.m.; and Sundays at 9 p.m. on Princeton Community Television (channel 30 for Comcast subscribers, 45 for Verizon FiOS).
The half-hour program, hosted by Gray, will address topics such as nonprofit mergers, state arts funding, and engaging young leaders in the nonprofit field. Episodes will also feature guest speakers such as Philip Brown of United Way of Northern New Jersey, who appeared on the show’s premiere. Additional 5 to 10 minute segments with guests discussing issues specific to the arts will be available to members of artprideNJ.com online.
Gray is a financial planner who previously served as the executive director of American Repertory Ballet and the New Brunswick Cultural Center and now consults to nonprofits on management and financial issues. He is intimately familiar with New Jersey’s nonprofit scene but realized that no public forum existed for discussion of nonprofit issues.
“There are over 31,000 nonprofit organizations in New Jersey, employing over 288,000 people, more than 7 percent of jobs in the state,” says Gray in a press release. “Yet there is no single program focused on the needs of the sector.
“We’re interested in exploring the future of the sector,” Gray continues. “Anyone who has a unique viewpoint, ideas about the future of the sector, or has influence within the sector with something to say is a potential guest.”
