Calling all budding artists who want to paint but would rather be outside than stuck in a studio: there are two summer programs made just for people like you.

A favorite in previous summers, plein air watercolor classes return to the lawn of the Trent House for four Saturdays this June. Instructor Ruth Councell will give lessons on topics including color theory, composition, and washes and glazes.

The classes are designed for artists of all ages and abilities. Students must provide their own supplies.

The fee is $50 for four classes, which run from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, June 2, 9, 16, and 23. Registration is required by E-mail to trenthouseassociation@verizon.net or by calling 609-989-0087. Mail checks to Trent House Association, 15 Market Street, Trenton 08611.

Morven Museum & Garden is collaborating with the Arts Council of Princeton to offer Paint Out on Saturday, June 9, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Artists are invited to use the gardens’ trees and heirloom plants or the mansion’s architectural details as inspiration for their work. The public is invited to observe the artists at work.

Registration is $8 for Arts Council members and $10 for non-members and is limited to 10 participants. Visit www.artscouncilofprinceton.org to sign up.
