The holiday season brightens up on Friday, November 23, at 4:45 p.m., when Santa Claus arrives at the annual Palmer Square Christmas Tree lighting to help switch on the 32,000 lights that will illuminate the square’s 65-foot Norwegian spruce. With live music and a reading of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas,” the ceremony marks the start of Palmer Square weekends of holiday entertainment and Santa appearances that conclude, Sunday, December 23. Visit www.palmersquare.com.

“Lights On!” at Grounds For Sculpture, Saturday, November 24, turns on two days of holiday festivities. During the day the grounds’ normal hours (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) will be filled with music, workshops in origami and gingerbread house making, artisan crafts, a sing-a-long, and more. But at night thousands of lights will transform the park into a dazzling visual treat.

The festivities continue Sunday, November 25, with a holiday concert. GFS’ Peacock Cafe gets into the spirit by offering an 11 a.m. brunch and 4 to 6 p.m. “Holiday Tea Party” (reservations required).

Admission to the park is required and fees apply to some workshops. www.groundsforsculpture.org or call 609-586-0616.
