McCarter Theater’s Block Party

Summer’s far from over, according to McCarter Theater, which is taking advantage of the warm weather to kick off its 2011-’12 season with a community-wide block party on the theater’s front lawn, Wednesday, August 24 from 5 to 9 pm.

This free night of entertainment and community camaraderie will include dancing under the stars with members of Fred Astaire Dance Studio to live music of the Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra, featuring high school and college jazz musicians in the greater Philadelphia and New Jersey regions; and opportunities to win prizes and tickets to McCarter’s 2011-’12 season. Kids can enjoy spin art, face painting, and activities with JaZams of Princeton.

There will also be vendor food items for purchase from two BBQ vendors, Bitter Bob’s and Blue Diamond Que; Carter & Cavero Old World Olive Oil; Chambers Walk; Chez Alice Catering; Dish Catering; element; Emily’s Cafe & Catering; Jen’s Cakes & Pastries; Jimmy Duffy’s Catering; Mediterra; Olsson’s Fine Foods; and Uncle Louis G’s Italian Ices. There will also be a cash bar offering beer, wine and other beverages.
