The maker of the Arm & Hammer and OxyClean lines of detergents and cleaners has sold one of its most famous product lines to a Detroit-area sponge maker.

Armaly Brands Co. has acquired the Brillo brand and its assets from Church & Dwight for an undisclosed amount. According to Armaly, the company plans to expand Brillo’s North American and global distribution, product development and marketing.

Armaly’s purchase marks the fourth time in its 97-year lifespan that Brillo ownership has changed hands. Church & Dwight has owned the line since it bought it from Dial in 1997.
