Leaf Pickup

Mercer County begins its annual fall leaf pickup program the week of November 1. Residents are reminded to rake leaves from their property into piles between the sidewalk and curb. Crews will not pick up leaves mixed with twigs, branches, stones or brush. Do not park vehicles in front of leaf piles because crews will be unable to reach the piles. Bagged leaves will not be picked up.

Street signs will be posted a day or two in advance of a scheduled pickup on that street to alert residents to pile their leaves and not to park on the street. Visit www.nj.gov/counties/mercer/departments/transportation/highways/leafpickup.html for more information.

Beware

Mercer County’s Division of Consumer Affairs is warning residents of a scam in which telephone callers claiming to represent the New Jersey Lottery inform people that they have won a large jackpot, which they can claim by depositing a “processing fee.” New Jersey Lottery never requires winners to provide personal information over the phone or to pay a fee to collect winnings. If you have been victims of a hoax, call the Lottery’s security office at 609-599-6100; the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs at 800-242-5846; or the Mercer County Division of Consumer Affairs at 609-989-6671.
