Yardley Players Theater Company has auditions for “Pinocchio” on Saturday and Sunday, December 4 and 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mercer County College in the communication building. Pinocchio, ages 9 to 12, male or female; Geppetto and fellow woodcarver, 40 plus males; Blue Fairy, 17 to 25 female ballet dancer; and other parts for puppets ages 10 and up — some for tap dancers, and assorted men ages 40 plus. HomeFront is selling holiday cards, 20 for $12, or 40 for $20, to benefit the agency whose services help homeless families get back on their feet. The cards were produced by clients who have been touched by poverty, homelessness, or abuse. They are involved in creating the art for the cards, marketing, and packing. Mercer County Library System is holding free memory screenings on Tuesday, November 16. The event is part of National Memory Screening Day, an annual initiative that the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America holds each November during National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month.

Leaf Pickup
Mercer County begins its annual fall leaf pickup program the week of November 1. Residents are reminded to rake leaves from their property into piles between the sidewalk and curb. Crews will not pick up leaves mixed with twigs, branches, stones or brush. Do not park vehicles in front of leaf piles because crews will be unable to reach the piles. Bagged leaves will not be picked up.

Mercer County’s Division of Consumer Affairs is warning residents of a scam in which telephone callers claiming to represent the New Jersey Lottery inform people that they have won a large jackpot, which they can claim by depositing a “processing fee.” New Jersey Lottery never requires winners to provide personal information over the phone or to pay a fee to collect winnings.
