U.S. 1’s Email Connection

We wouldn’t normally assign an article on the mail that arrives in our office every day, but since our editor (prompted by the recent news that the Postal Service may curtail delivery from six to five days a week) has taken on that very subject in his column this week (see ‘The Postman Always Rings Twice…’), we are puttng in our own two cents.

About E-mail. Yes, we get a virtual ton of it and we welcome it. But there are a few things you can do to maximize the impact of your electronic missive.

First send it to the appropriate E-mail address. If it’s related to any upcoming event other than a business meeting, please send it to events@princetoninfo.com. Business meeting announcements should go to meetings@princetoninfo.com.

If you have a story idea for the Preview section direct your message to jsaxon@princetoninfo.com; for the Fast Lane, send to kspring@princetoninfo.com; for the Survival Guide or Interchange sections, send to morgan@princetoninfo.com. If you have a letter to the editor or suggestion please direct it to rein@princetoninfo.com. And, yes, faxes (609-452-0033) still are appreciated, as is that increasingly precious snail mail (12 Roszel Road, Suite C-205, Princeton 08540).

To the Editor:

The Lions’ Vision

President Obama has challenged us to reaffirm American values of humble gratitude, duty, patriotism and community service. The Lions Club, firmly rooted in these values, provides an opportunity for local residents to meet that challenge.

Formed in 1917 and now the world’s largest service organization, Lions Club International has more than 1.4 million members in more than 200 countries. With a motto of “We Serve,” its mission is primarily focused on helping the less fortunate, but particularly those who are blind or afflicted by sight and hearing problems.

The West Windsor Lions Club, chartered in 1952, has a proud record of providing assistance to a variety of charities and individuals. The complete list is too long for this letter but it includes the Lions Eye Banks of the Delaware Valley and of New Jersey, the Lions Eye Research Foundation at the University of Medicine and Dentistry, two New Jersey summer camps for the blind, Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic, Blind Musicians, St. Joseph’s School for the Blind, and Canine Hearing Companions.

Last year, in cooperation with Lens Crafters, the Lions provided more than 60 West Windsor citizens with essential eye examinations. That includes 14 seniors who now have new eyeglasses that they would not otherwise have been able to afford.

These charitable contributions have totaled more than $60,000 over the last three years.

We would welcome inquiries from those interested in joining our club, as well as from local businesses that would like to learn how they too can support our efforts.

West Windsor Lions Club
