As you might expect, the folks at the Witherspoon Grill have a real thing for food. Well, turns out, their fondness for good food extends beyond the menu.
On Sunday, October 11, rain or shine, Witherspoon Grill will host its seventh annual Harvest & Music Fest, a day-long celebration of food, fun, and songs to help feed a worthy cause. Proceeds from the festival benefit the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen.
“This event is very us,” says Laura Estey, assistant general manager at Witherspoon Grill. “Our lives revolve around food, and we feel strongly about supporting places that provide food.”
Over the years, Witherspoon Grill’s annual Harvest & Music Fest has raised more than $17,500 and more than 1,000 pounds of food donations for TASK, Estey says. “We chose TASK because they help feed people who are hungry and in need of food. In addition to raising money for TASK at our festival, we also run a food drive from the beginning of September until the middle of October.”
Some of the items needed by TASK include: instant oatmeal packets, canned soup of all varieties, fruit singles, juice boxes, dry pasta, canned tuna fish, canned vegetables, and canned beans. Donations can be dropped off at Witherspoon Grill or Blue Point Grill.
The Harvest & Music Fest kicks off in Hinds Plaza (next to Princeton Public Library) at 11:30 a.m. and runs until 5:30 p.m. The event is free to attend and will feature great bands like Franklin & Alison, Pi Fight, and Joe Vadala & Ocean Country to complement Witherspoon Grill’s delicious food and fabulous drinks.
There also will be lots of great family activities, such as a pie eating contest for kids, for which the grand prize will be a brand new bike from Jay’s Cycles. Will “the Champ” Millender will also return this year to defend his title in the annual corn cob eating contest for the adults, sponsored by Tico’s Eatery & Juice Bar.
Other generous sponsors for this year’s Harvest & Music Fest are JM Group (Witherspoon Grill, Blue Point Grill & Nassau Street Seafood), NJM Insurance Group, Callaway Henderson Sotheby’s International Realty, Carl S. DeFazio Private Investigations, Borden Perlman Salisbury & Kelly, NHKT Urban Renewal, Mercedes-Benz of Princeton, Nassau Inn, La Jolie Salon & Spa, Bank of Princeton, and PNC Bank.
“Come out and enjoy a day of fun, food and prizes,” Estey says. “Celebrate the fall harvest and our community, and help raise money for a great cause.”
