Not all wellness services are created equal," says Jean Robinson, founder and executive director of Volition Wellness Solutions in Skillman.

That’s why the center has teamed up with Joel Fuhrman, M.D, as its Medical Director. Dr. Fuhrman, a renowned speaker and author, was an ideal choice for the new position, according to Robinson, because he specializes in preventing and reversing disease through nutritional and natural methods. As Medical Director he oversees, collaborates with, and trains the Volition Medical Team.

"Volition Wellness Solutions has stood out over the years among other wellness centers because of its integrated services and team approach to caring for the whole patient in an intimate setting," says Robinson.

Heading the team at Volition is Kathleen Mullin, M.D., Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Mullin practices nutritional and integrative medicine. She specializes in treating chronic disease including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, allergies, autoimmune disease, migraines, and chronic fatigue.

She utilizes Dr. Fuhrman’s nutritional protocols along with lifestyle modifications and judicious use of medications to help people achieve renewed health and vitality. Dr. Mullin also specializes in disease prevention counseling, helping people to understand and reduce their risk for degenerative diseases in the future and create optimal wellbeing. She works closely with Barbara O’Brien, MSN FNP-BC, Leslie O’Malley, MA RD, and Debra Halton, BS RPh.

Her practice includes weight management, wellness promotion, eating disorders, and nutrition management for heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. She is a member of the ADA, NJDA and is certified in Adult Weight Management from the ADA. Leslie advises her clients to have healthy and enjoyable relationships with food. She encourages techniques such as mindful eating, listening to natural body signals of hunger and satiety, personalized food plans, boundary setting around food, and gaining insights into eating habits.

Many patients come to Volition frustrated with conventional methods after having received services at many different places, with little or no results, according to Robinson. "Volition is about inspiring patients to consciously attain and maintain a healthy balance and therapeutic lifestyle. We also have an excellent counseling staff that works with the medical team to help clients deal with emotional issues that have affected the physical body," she adds. Services include acupuncture, breathwork therapy, counseling, life and wellness coaching, massage therapy, nutrition, reflexology, reiki, and trager.
