Fancy a dinner served upside down? Dessert first sounds crazy but not when it’s fois gras brulee. A final course of chocolate pasta creates a sense of wonder that is entirely food-focused. This is only one of many creative ideas that famed local chef Jim Weaver and his talented staff offer to make events at Tre Piani anything but ordinary.
Parties at Tre Piani are definitely not standard off-the-shelf menus. Because Chef Weaver is the sole owner, he can create parties and events that cater to individual tastes. Working with the hosts in developing the theme and feel of the special moment, he and his staff go beyond expectations.
The different areas at this multi-layered venue can accommodate a wide variety of groups. On the ground floor the intimate Tre Bar can host smaller gatherings such as cocktail parties for 60-plus guests, complete with a buffet where friends can mingle. A sunken lounge with sofas and low tables is perfect to reserve for intimate times with a few friends. The main floor Bistro seats up to 80, and its wooden floor is a natural dance space. The Mezzanine Room comfortably seats around 65 diners. Access to the outdoor seating expands the options for any size party at the Tre Bar and Bistro.
Overlooking the main dining room is the newly refurbished Galleria Ballroom. This bright, sunny space can be configured in many ways, from a seated dinner for 100 or an active meeting space complete with state-of-the-art AV connectivity. It has its own dance floor, an amenity that alleviates the need to rent, install, and dismantle one from an outside company.
Large events such as weddings or corporate dinners can easily be handled by using the entire venue. Upwards of 300 guests can circulate easily. This is an especial benefit for Bar and Bat Mitzvahs where adults and children have their own space and special menus.
Unusual settings are the order of the day at Tre Piani. The staff is highly experienced, some having been with Chef Weaver all of the 17 years that the restaurant has been in Princeton. Emphasis on personal tastes allow hosts to sponsor customized events and not packaged deals. A perfect example is a corporate team building session. At Tre Piani this can take the form of a cooking class where each team is responsible for a separate course that all will share. Morning meetings are welcome and with the numerous levels, breakout rooms are available.
An early advocate of the locavore, slow food movement in New Jersey, Chef Weaver has long been an adherent of the philosophy of preparing the best foods each season offers. He takes full advantage of the myriad nearby farms so that the menus feature the freshest ingredients with the lowest possible “footprint.” A popular event theme is wine and food pairings that can be tailored to highlight New Jersey’s finest.
Off-premise catering is as creative as anything that is prepared in-house. Chef Weaver aids in party planning literally from soup to nuts at homes or offices.
Tre Piani is conveniently located directly off Route 1 South, and there is ample free parking. The Westin Hotel is a very short walk, making large events such as weddings a snap for overnight guests.
If variety is the spice of life, Tre Piani kicks it all up a notch. In your kitchen or his, Chef Weaver tailors events with creative style.
