The Natural Health Center of Central New Jersey was designed to be a place of peace, enlightenment, and good will by founders Rosina Valvo-Tola and Colleen Murray-Seig, who share a goal to educate people on complementary methods of sustaining good health.
Their "Asian retreat," located in North Brunswick offers an atmosphere of peace and balance with nature in its private areas for massage and consultation as well as spaces for a variety of seminars and events.
"Our clients become a part of our family," says Rosina, who has a bachelor’s degree in natural health and has been practicing for 23 years. She specializes in working with the delicate nervous system through CranioSacral Therapy. The technique involves the therapist placing her hands on the patient, allowing her to gently work with the spine, the skull and its cranial sutures, diaphragms, and fascia to ease the restrictions of nerve passages. Because of its gentle nature, it is appropriate for all ages, including newborns, says Rosina.
"Our goal is to find the things in our clients’ lives that are off balance and to put them back into balance," she adds. Natural health consultations focus on food choices, supplements and bodywork to improve overall health.
But it is "is not just about herbs and diet," she says. "We find out where improvement is needed. Sometimes in talking with a client I find that they have lost the fun or creativity in their lives and I help them to restore that aspect."
Rosina’s partner, Colleen, has been a massage therapist for 14 years and is certified in a variety of techniques, including full body therapeutic massage, which concentrates on the body’s tension areas to loosen tight muscles, and LaStone Massage, where warmed Basalt stones are alternated with cool marble stones to increase circulation, flush out toxins and leave the body balanced.
Colleen also specializes in Neuromuscular Massage, also known as Trigger Point Therapy, which is used to treat muscle spasms caused by injury or trauma, and sports massage which incorporates stretches to improve flexibility and increase stride while loosening tight muscles.
Other specialties offered at the center include Pre-Natal massage, Ear Candling, Spot-On massage geared for specific problem areas, Aromatherapy Massage, which combines therapeutic grade oils with massage strokes for optimum results, and Raindrop Therapy, in which therapeutic grade oils are dropped and massaged on the spine and back muscles, then compressed into the skin with warm towels for a feeling of calm.
