In an increasingly globalized world full of mergers, chains, and international brands, there is heightened value in finding service that is still local in approach, knowledge, and experience. River Valley is one company that offers just this type of service.

Kim Ward Bacso is the principal owner of the River Valley organization that includes River Valley Realty in Lambertville, New Jersey, and River Valley Properties in Yardley, Pennsylvania.

Kim founded River Valley because she identified a strong need for engaged, informed agents who can provide knowledgeable guidance through the issues that are specific to the types of properties that are found in the Delaware River towns and surrounding farm and rural areas.

Furthermore, she believes that local, independent businesses are part of what defines the River Valley and wanted to establish a private and owner operated company. Her experiences with both national and franchised companies left her disillusioned about their priorities and true value to the local community. Her business model is “local, local, local.”

“Part of the reason it is critical to hire a local expert to help you find or sell your home is that they understand inventory levels of each municipality and how that affects price and demand,” she says. The right independent local realtor will also specialize in quality listings over quantity, she explains. “Our name is River Valley because that is what we’re about — an intense focus on this really fabulous area — it’s not about having my name on the door.”

River Valley opened its Lambertville office in 2012, and, recognizing the demographic move to Bucks County, recently celebrated the opening of its Yardley office. River Valley believes in building community relationships, exemplary customer service, and old-fashioned hard work.

Kim is a seasoned broker with a long history and intense focus on the area in which she lives and works. She is always looking for an opportunity to be the voice of small, independent businesses in the community. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater Lambertville New Hope Chamber of Commerce.

A proponent of her industry, she is a member of the Bucks and Mercer Board of Realtors, and is currently an officer of the Hunterdon/Somerset Association of Realtors, serving as the National Association of Realtor Director for that organization. This gives her the opportunity to continue her advocacy of small, independent brokerages on local, state and national levels.

“Real Estate has been a career choice for so many women entering or re-entering the work force. It offers flexibility and high income potential, and I am grateful to be able to support this work force. For 23 years, I have been part of an industry that empowers women and encourages them to be in leadership positions…while owning River Valley has been lots of hard work and dedication, at least there were no glass ceilings to shatter.”
