Discover Your Inner Fitness Warrior. All members benefit from free quarterly assessments by a personal trainer and on-site nurse. This monitoring evolves your fitness program, with motivation propelled by your progress. An extensive variety of Group Fitness classes includes workouts like Pilates barre, aquatics, and Les Mills favorites.
Our certified fitness professionals help maximize each visit. The Centers provide members with the proper fitness tools and equipment — and the confidence and support to use them. Members find strength to overcome everything from an imperfect golf swing to reliance on a walker.
The Centers offer state-of-the-art fitness equipment; a comprehensive Pilates studio; a salt-water filtered Aquatic Center with lap, therapy, and spa pools; and free access to well-maintained childcare. Beyond offering tools for an exceptional fitness experience, they guide you along your journey with support each step of the way.
The Centers also excel at accommodating the unique needs of those recovering from an illness or injury. After the body undergoes the challenges of a severe illness, disease, or injury, the Centers’ Wellness Programs bridge the gap between clinical treatment and continued recovery. Center members are guided to achieve their healthiest life, regardless of where they begin.
The Wellness Programs. When diagnosed with a serious health issue or need for surgery, the next steps can be daunting. There are multiple components of care, which leave many physically and mentally exhausted. Patients avoid prescribed follow-up therapies out of fear, misinformation, or lack of motivation. The Centers’ Wellness Programs specifically support those with special health needs so they can better navigate this uncertain territory.
True Integration. Dr. Timothy F. Marshall, PhD, Director of Research and Program Development at the Fitness & Wellness Centers, emphasizes the goal of these programs is to formalize the connection between hospital services and Center offerings. “To be successful, the healing process needs to be a continuum of care. Our Wellness Programs promote integration between the Fitness & Wellness Centers and Princeton HealthCare System providers in one centralized location.”
The Centers offer a safe, supportive environment where one comfortably transitions from outpatient rehabilitation to the Princeton Fitness & Wellness Centers with guidance from a certified personal trainer. Healthcare providers work with Center staff as a team. The patient benefits simultaneously from multiple programs and services. Recovery is expedited; outcomes are improved.
The Wellness Programs consist of small group exercise as part of the healing process. Exercise sessions follow disease-specific guidelines recommended by the American College of Sports Medicine. There are 16 supervised sessions over eight weeks for a reasonable fee. Currently, the Princeton and Plainsboro locations offer Wellness Programs in the following areas: Bariatric, Cardiac, Cancer, Diabetes, MoveWell, and Parkinson’s disease.
