Fall registration is now open for Italian classes at Dorothea’s House, located at 120 John Street in Princeton. The classes run for 12 weeks beginning the week of September 16. There are 37 classes scheduled at various times, Monday through Saturday, during the fall semester. Beginner classes are for students with no previous knowledge of Italian, and a class for children ages 6 to 16 is available. In addition to classes focused on language and grammar skills, other offerings include “Italian Cinema,” “The Beauty of Neapolitan Dialect,” and “Italian Civilization.” Registration is available online or by mail; register and pay by September 10 to avoid a $20 late fee and cancellation of classes due to low enrollment. www.dorotheashouse.org

The Youth Services Department of the West Windsor Library will hold open auditions for teens ages 12 to 18 for its upcoming Halloween short plays “The Horror at Camp Happy Swamp” and a mini-musical, “Bad Riddance.” Auditions will take place on Saturdays, July 27 and August 3, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Thursdays, July 25 and August 1, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Auditions will consist of readings from the script, and for singing roles a selection of well-known songs. Scripts will be available for inspection at the reference desk, or can be sent by e-mail.
Auditions will take place at the West Windsor Branch, 333 North Post Road, Princeton Junction. Rehearsals will begin in early September. The performances will take place on October 25 to 27. The Mercer County Community College Summer Jazz Institute is hosting its annual program from Monday to Friday, July 29 to August 2. High school and college jazz musicians are invited to apply for a week’s worth of master classes led by MCCC faculty. Classes include ear training, jazz theory, improvisation, ensembles, and clinics. Sustainable Princeton is collecting several hard-to-recycle items once a month at the Princeton Farmers Market. Dates are Thursdays, July 25, August 22, September 19, October 17, and November 14. Residents can bring printer cartridges and wine corks, as well as several other items. Collected items will be recycled or upcycled.
