Foreign-born individuals who have achieved growth, advocacy, and innovation are invited to apply for the 2019 New Jersey Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards. On February 22, 2015, Patrick Awosogba, a freshman at Rutgers University, passed away playing in a pickup basketball game due to a rare heart condition known as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Every summer since, former East Brunswick High School classmate and baseball teammate Greg Sampson has organized a wiffle ball tournament fundraiser to raise scholarship money for Awosogba’s parents to present to an East Brunswick High School student.
This year’s tournament will be held Saturday, August 24, at East Brunswick Baseball League, 367 Dunhams Corner Road East, East Brunswick. There will be two age brackets: young adult and adult. Each team will field three to four players. Cost is $10 per player. Check-in is from 10 to 10:45 a.m. To volunteer as an umpire for the young adult division or sign up via e-mail, message email@example.com with team name, division and the number of players.

LaShir, the Jewish Community Choir of Princeton, is actively seeking experienced singers. Its 2019-’20 season begins Thursday, September 5. The Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber Community Development Fund in partnership with the Princeton Area Community Foundation and the Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce Foundation have opened their 2019 grant applications. To apply, groups must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization headquartered in the Princeton/Mercer region. Grant awards may be requested between $5,000 and $10,000.
