“The Chamber’s Business Before Business breakfast meetings provide our members with topical information delivered by an expert in that field from the business community. Our breakfast meetings are a great way to make connections with other chamber members before you start your work day,” says chamber president and CEO Peter Crowley.

In 2009 Fortune magazine named Genentech one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” for the 11th consecutive year and this year Genentech is number seven on the list. In addition to being a great place to work, the company is considered to be the founder of the biotechnology industry, and Todd Pierce’s IT group plays a significant role in corporate innovation.

Pierce has lead the IT function for seven years as Genentech has grown from 4,500 employees to more than 11,000. Pierce has overseen dramatic changes in the IT infrastructure including implementation of ERP, Google Apps, and widespread use of iPhones. Pierce is a CIO with a flair for mentoring the brightest talent and ideas using embedded process design excellence to a culture that thrives on opportunities to be bold and proactive.

Pierce’s presentation will explore the keys to Genentech’s winning culture and where the IT team’s contribution creates sustainable and trackable business benefits. Pierce holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a graduate degree from Berkeley in Health Care Policy and Service Analysis.
