Call for Films

The Garden State Film Festival seeks entries for the 2020 festival, scheduled to be held from March 25 to 29 in Asbury Park. Entries of films, screenplays, and movie music are accepted through Sunday, December 1. Entry fees vary by category. Feature-length films must be New Jersey premieres, and others must be premieres for Monmouth, Mercer, Middlesex, and Ocean counties. For full entry guidelines visit www.gsff.org.

Call for Artists

New Brunswick Public Sculpture seeks proposals to create an outdoor sculpture to represent the accomplishments/historical timeline of Paul Robeson to be installed in Feaster Park.

A realistic, life size bronze statue of Robeson will be dressed in casual clothing from his era and seated, on a conventional bench, with book on lap, is to be inviting so that on lookers feel welcome to have a seat on either side of the statue. This statue will be in close proximity to the Paul Robeson School of the Arts, and will be utilized as an outdoor classroom for students from area schools. Call for Composers

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra is accepting applications for the 2020 NJSO Edward T. Cone Composition Institute through February 14. Designed to promote new music and emerging composers, the Institute offers four composers the opportunity to have their music performed by the NJSO and participate in in-depth sessions with industry leaders, July 13 to 18, on the Princeton University campus.

The institute is open to university composition students or composers in the early stages of their professional careers. The application form, eligibility requirements and Institute details are available at www.njsymphony.org/institute.

Audition

Acting Naturally holds auditions for “13 The Musical” on Monday, November 4. Performances will run from March 13 to 22, 2020, at Acting Naturally Theater, 164 North Flowers Mill Road, Langhorne, Pennsylvania. All parts are for boys and girls ages 13 to 16.

The Mercer County Community College Academic Theater and Dance Department and Kelsey Theater announce open auditions for their production of “If/Then.” Auditions take place at the theater at 1200 Old Trenton Road, West Windsor, on Friday, November 15, from 7 to 10 p.m., and Saturday, November 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Auditions for dancers only are Sunday, November 17, at 1 p.m. Actors should prepare a monologue no longer than three minutes in length and be prepared for cold readings from the script. Singers should prepare 16-32 bars of a song in the style of the show and be prepared to learn music from the show at the audition. Bus Tours

Washington Crossing Historic Park invites the community to take a trip back to the Revolutionary War and retrace the 10 crucial days in 1776 that changed the course of American history on On the Traversing the 10 Crucial Days bus tour.

Tours will be offered on Sunday, November 17, Saturday, December 21, and Friday, December 27. Cost is $125 per person and includes bus fare, lunch and donations to the Friends of Washington Crossing Park, the Washington Crossing Park Association in New Jersey, the Old Barracks Museum in Trenton, and the Princeton Battlefield Society.
