Call for Singers

Opportunity abounds for those who like to sing. VOICESChorale NJ, an auditioned chorus made up of singers from central New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania, is seeking singers to perform Handel’s “Anthem on the Peace” at the annual “A Prayer for Peace” concert, which will take place this May at Trinity Episcopal Church in Prince­ton. The Princeton Boychoir is holding auditions for boys in grades 3 through 12 for the Winter 2020 term. Those auditioning will be asked to sing “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” and perform exercises that demonstrate their vocal range. Auditions will be held through the end of January. Get Outside

On Monday, January 20, the Friends of Princeton Open Space will host “A Day of Service in Nature” in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Volunteers are needed to work on a Forest Restoration Project at the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve, assisting in removing invasive species from the property and building deer exclusion cages to protect native tree saplings.

A Day of Service in Nature will get underway 9 a.m. at the Mountain Lakes House, 57 Mountain Avenue in Princeton. Volunteers ages 16 and younger must be accompanied by adults. Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve in New Hope is accepting applications from college students for its 2020 summer internship program.

The preserve has two openings for budding conservationists in Programs and Collections and Native Plant Horticulture.

Internships are open to students who have completed two years of college and have an interest in botany, horticulture, or environmental studies. Applications must be received by Friday, February 28. Visit www.bhwp.org.

Call for Volunteers

Womanspace, a nonprofit agency that provides assistance to those impacted by domestic and sexual violence, is in need of volunteers for its Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Victim Response Teams.

Team members meet with domestic violence and sexual assault victims at area police stations to offer them support and provide them with information on the services available to them.

Volunteers must be a least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license and access to transportation. Volunteers must also complete 80 hours of training and a background check. Auditions

Budding performers ages 10 to 18, listen up: The Paper Mill Playhouse is now scheduling auditions for its Summer Musical Theater Conservatory and August Intensive.

The Summer Musical Theater Conservatory, which takes place in July, gives students the opportunity to work on their individual performance skills and gain theater experience by participating in music, voice, dance, and acting classes and attending guest workshops led by professionals. The program concludes with a fully produced concert. The August Musical Theater Intensive is a three-week program designed to build foundational techniques and help performers refine their skills. That program concludes with a musical theater showcase.
