Call for Artwork
West Windsor Arts Center is looking for art submissions for the Off the Wall juried artwork showcase, held concurrently with the WWAC Artisan Market on Saturday, November 16, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, November 17, from noon to 5 p.m.
All art entered must be original and new to WWAC, and offered for sale at prices between $50 and $400. Work submitted for previous exhibitions at WWAC will not be accepted. Art must be properly wired across the back to be accepted for jury review. Artwork must be in original form for the medium being submitted.
Submission fees are $7 for each piece of artwork or three pieces of art for $20. Call for Plays
The Lawrence Headquarters Branch of the Mercer County Library System will host its 12th annual PlayFest on Saturday, April 25, 2020. Local directors will stage script-in-hand performances of one-act plays. Plays should be 10 minutes in length, with a maximum of five actors. Playwrights should be of high school age or older and reside or work in the Delaware Valley. Submissions are limited to a maximum of two per playwright.
Submission deadline is Friday, January 10, 2020. Scripts can be emailed as a Word document attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org or may be brought to the Lawrence Headquarters Branch Library reference desk. Please include two title pages: one with the play title only and the other with play title and name, address, phone, and email address of the playwright. The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office is collecting unused and expired prescriptions on Saturday, October 26, as part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The goal is to help local residents to rid their medicine cabinets of unused and easily abused opioid painkillers, in addition to any other unneeded prescription medications. Mercer County residents can dispose of unused and expired prescription pills, by bringing them to the parking lot across from the Mercer County Administration Building at 640 South Broad Street, Trenton, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Syringes, sharp instruments, and liquid solutions are not accepted. Villagers Theater hosts auditions for its Christmas show, “Just in the Nick of Time! (A Detective Red Mistletoe Mystery)” on Thursday, October 17, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the theater, 475 DeMott Lane, Somerset. All roles except for Mr. Claus are open to ages 7 and up. Call for Volunteers
New Jersey Blood Services, which supplies blood to hospitals throughout the state, is in need of volunteers to help at blood drives. The blood drive volunteer is an integral member of the blood collection team whose task it is to assist donors with registration and/or at the refreshment area. No medical background necessary. Volunteers should have the ability to relate to the public, be able to perform different jobs as needed and have the willingness to follow the rules.
